How Do I Convert PDF to Word in Zapier?​

  1. Add PDF4me to your Zap and choose PDF to Word under the Convert actions.
  2. Connect your PDF4me account, or select an existing connection.
  3. Map File from a previous step, or provide a direct URL to a public PDF.
  4. Optionally set File Name; leave it blank to reuse the source file's name.
  5. Set Quality Type to Draft for normal PDFs or High for scanned or image-based PDFs.
  6. Test the step, then map the converted Word file to the next action in your Zap.

When Should I Use High Quality Instead of Draft?​

Use High when the source PDF is a scanned document or made up of images rather than selectable text, such as a faxed contract or a photographed form. High processes each page as an image and consumes 2 API calls per page. Use Draft for ordinary PDFs with selectable text; it consumes only 1 API call per file and is the faster, lower-cost option.

Practical Tips​

Match Quality Type to the source PDF
Draft on a scanned PDF will not extract text properly since there is no selectable text layer to read. Use High for scanned or image-based documents.
"Exists but not shown" breaks the File field
If the File field shows a reference instead of content, remap it from an option that provides the full file, or supply a direct PDF URL instead.
High consumes more API calls
High quality processes each page as an image and costs 2 API calls per page versus 1 per file for Draft. Budget accordingly for large or multi-page scans.
File Name is cosmetic only
Setting File Name changes only the output filename. It does not affect conversion quality or behavior.
Complex layouts may need a review pass
Multi-column layouts, tables, and dense formatting can shift slightly during conversion. Review the Word output before using it as a final deliverable.
